The year of Saint Joseph proclaimed by Pope Francis to remember his patronage of the Universal Church has, in our land, a happy providence. This year is also celebrated the centenary of the Canonical Coronation of the statue of San José de la Montaña. This reality has made it appropriate for the next meeting of Sanctuaries de Catalunya i les Illes Balears, take place in Barcelona, in the San José de la Montaña Sanctuary, from June 7 to 9.
Saint Joseph custodian of the Holy Family and the custodial sanctuaries of human sanctuaries
If Saint Joseph is the custodian of the Holy Family, the theme chosen for this year cannot be more Josef: Custodians of the mystery of God and the Shrines: caring for human shrines.
A work program around this great ministry, welcoming people who are on their way in search of God, human sanctuaries, under the inspiration of Saint Joseph who, following the will of God, welcomed and guarded Jesus and Mary.
During the conference, which will be attended by the delegates of the bishoprics and rectors and those responsible for sanctuaries, Cardinal Juan José Omella will participate; the bishop of Sant Feliu de Llobregat Mons. Agustí Cortés, bishop responsible for the Tarraconense of pastoral care in the sanctuaries; Mother Mercedes Domínguez, superior of the community of the Congregation of the Mothers of the Helpless and San José de la Montaña.
Conferences about Saint Joseph and Josephine devotion
There will also be several conferences such as that of Mn. Ramon Ollé, deacon, with the title “Saint Joseph, and the care of human sanctuaries”; one by the Daughters of the Holy Family on “A devotion made foster care.” In addition, a round table on “Saint Joseph, model of spiritual accompaniment” will help to deepen the welcome in the sanctuaries.
Visit to the Sagrada Familia
Finally, if San José de la Montaña is one of the great Josephine sanctuaries at home, there is no doubt that the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is also. Participants will visit the temple where they will also celebrate the Eucharist.
The meeting is organized by the Secretariat for Pastoral Tourism and the Shrines of the Tarraconense Episcopal Conference, a secretariat directed by Fr. Juan María Mayol, rector of the Shrine of the Virgin of Montserrat.
